These are solid-timber tables, not veneered boards. Tops and leg assemblies are milled from solid 50mm stock, and the Industro Oak carries an additional 20mm solid edge underneath for a 60-70mm side profile — the visual weight you expect from a real hardwood table.
The Industro Oak Dining Table in French Oak is our flagship, available as a 6- or 8-seater with an optional matching bench. The Ash and Oak Round tables are finished with a protective satin clear sealer that lets the grain show. Built to order in Lanseria. Solid timber dining tables: a buying guide
Timbur's dining tables are solid timber, not veneered board. The Industro Oak Dining Table has a top milled from 50 mm solid French Oak with a further 20 mm solid edge underneath, giving a 60 to 70 mm side profile, and comes as a six-seater (2,100 x 950 mm) or eight-seater (2,400 x 950 mm) with optional matching benches. The Oak Round Dining Table is 50 mm solid French Oak throughout. The Broadacre is the painted option: a 2,000 mm Satin White top on solid Kiaat legs. All are 760 mm high and made to order in Lanseria. As of November 2026 they run from R10,995 to R35,395; current prices are on each product page.
Which size seats how many?
Allow about 600 mm of table edge per person. A 2,000 mm table seats six comfortably; 2,100 mm seats six with elbow room; 2,400 mm seats eight. A bench on one side takes three people where chairs take two.

How much space around the table?
Leave 900 to 1,000 mm between the table edge and the nearest wall or sideboard so a chair can slide out and someone can walk behind it; 750 mm is the minimum where nobody needs to pass. For a 950 mm wide table that means a room at least 2.9 m wide.
Living with solid oak
A 50 mm solid top is heavy and moves slightly with the seasons, which is normal for hardwood on the Highveld. The tops are sealed, not painted, so the grain shows and marks can be sanded back and resealed rather than touched up. Grain, colour and knots vary from board to board; every table is different from the photographs.
Delivery
Tables are delivered assembled where possible; delivery anywhere in South Africa is quoted at checkout and collection from the Lanseria workshop is free by appointment. Because of the weight, make sure the route into the dining room is clear on delivery day.

What size dining table seats 8?
A 2,400 mm long table. Timbur's Industro Oak eight-seater is 2,400 x 950 mm; add two 2,400 mm benches and it seats eight with elbow room, or ten at a push.
How much space do you need around a dining table?
Leave 900 to 1,000 mm between the table edge and the wall so chairs can slide out and people can pass behind them. A 2,400 x 950 mm table therefore needs a room about 4.4 m by 2.9 m.
How much does a solid oak dining table cost in South Africa?
As of November 2026, Timbur's Industro Oak Dining Table starts at R19,750 for the six-seater and runs to R35,395 for the eight-seater with two benches; the Oak Round Dining Table is R18,950 and the Broadacre R10,995. The current price is on each product page.
Is the table top really solid wood?
Yes. The Industro Oak and Oak Round tops are milled from solid 50 mm French Oak boards; the Industro adds a 20 mm solid edge underneath for a 60 to 70 mm profile. The Broadacre is the exception: a 65 mm painted top on solid Kiaat legs.
Do you make extendable dining tables?
No. Solid 50 mm tops are not built to extend. If you host occasionally, order the eight-seater with a bench on one side: the bench slides under the table when it is not in use.
How long does a dining table take?
Every table is handmade to order in Lanseria; the current lead time is 9 to 11 weeks including the December closure, then delivery 3 to 7 working days after manufacturing. Delivery is quoted at checkout for anywhere in South Africa.
