Our widest bedroom range. Every pedestal here is built to order in our Lanseria workshop, in a painted carcass with solid French Oak or Kiaat drawer fronts, and finished in Satin White, Satin Light Grey, Satin Dark Grey or Flat Black.
Choose a floating pedestal if you want the floor left clear: wall-hung units make a small bedroom read larger and are far easier to clean under. Choose a freestanding or double pedestal if you need more drawer volume. Several models in the ONE range offer push-to-open drawers and optional dual USB ports built into the unit, so a charging cable never crosses the floor. Installation is free in Gauteng when you choose delivery, and every unit ships with DIY mounting instructions if you would rather fit it yourself.

Floating bedside pedestals: a buying guide
A floating bedside pedestal is a bedside table that mounts to the wall instead of standing on legs, so the floor under it stays clear. Timbur makes 23 pedestals in its Lanseria workshop, seven of them wall-hung. As of November 2026 they are priced from R2,995 to R5,695 per pedestal; the current price is always on the product page. Every one is built to order with solid French Oak or Kiaat fronts over a sprayed cabinet in Satin White, Satin Light Grey, Satin Dark Grey or Flat Black. Installation is included with delivery in Gauteng; elsewhere in South Africa the unit ships with fixings and DIY instructions.
Floating or freestanding?
Choose a floating pedestal when you want the floor clear: a small bedroom reads larger, cleaning underneath takes seconds, and because it is mounted at whatever height suits your bed, a low platform bed and a tall base both work. Choose a freestanding pedestal when you rent and would rather not drill, when you want more drawer volume (the double and XL models), or when you plan to move it between rooms. A freestanding pedestal at 600 mm high sits just above a standard mattress top, which is the height most people want for a lamp and a glass of water.

Walls, fixings and installation
Floating pedestals mount to drywall, brick or concrete, provided the fixings suit the wall and the wall is sound. Brackets and fixings are included. In Gauteng, installation is included when you choose delivery at checkout, and the team sets the mounting height to your bed. Outside Gauteng, or if you prefer to fit it yourself, the pedestal ships with mounting instructions. If you are not sure what your wall is made of, tell us before you order.
USB charging built in
The ONE range can be ordered with a 12.5 W dual USB module built into the pedestal: one USB-C and one USB-A port, powered by a 1.5 m cable and a standard three-pin plug. A phone charges on the pedestal top and no cable crosses the floor.
Pedestal questions, answered
What is a floating bedside pedestal?
A floating pedestal is a bedside table fixed to the wall rather than standing on the floor. Timbur's floating models are 430 to 540 mm wide and 430 to 450 mm deep, with one or two drawers, and they leave the floor beneath completely clear.
How much does a floating pedestal cost in South Africa?
As of November 2026, Timbur's floating pedestals cost between R3,395 and R4,690 each, depending on the model and whether you add USB charging, and freestanding pedestals start at R2,995. Prices are per pedestal, so a pair for a double bed is two units. The current price is on each product page.
What is the standard height for a bedside pedestal?
A freestanding pedestal top at about 600 mm sits level with or just above a standard mattress top, which is comfortable for a lamp and a glass of water. A floating pedestal is mounted at the height that suits your bed, so it works with a low platform bed or a tall base.
Can a floating pedestal be mounted on drywall?
Yes. Timbur's floating pedestals mount to drywall, brick or concrete with the included brackets and fixings, as long as the fixings suit the wall type and the wall is sound enough to carry the unit. Tell us what your wall is made of before ordering if you are unsure.
Which pedestals have USB charging?
The ONE+ Floating Pedestal, the ONE+ Mono Floating Pedestal and the ONE XL Pedestal can be ordered with a 12.5 W dual USB module (one USB-C and one USB-A port) built into the unit. It runs off a 1.5 m cable with a standard three-pin plug.
What timber are the pedestals made from?
Drawer fronts and tops are solid French Oak or solid Kiaat, sealed rather than painted so the grain stays visible. Cabinets are sprayed in Satin White, Satin Light Grey, Satin Dark Grey or Flat Black. The Easy Kiaat, Easy French Oak and Easy Solid Double pedestals are solid timber throughout.
How long does a pedestal take to make?
Every pedestal is handmade to order in Timbur's Lanseria workshop. The current manufacturing lead time is 9 to 11 weeks, including the December closure, and delivery usually follows 3 to 7 working days after manufacturing.
Do you install pedestals, and where?
In Gauteng, installation is included when you choose delivery at checkout. Elsewhere in South Africa, delivery is quoted at checkout and the pedestal ships with fixings and DIY mounting instructions. You can also collect free of charge from the Lanseria workshop by appointment, with two working days' notice.
Do the pedestals match Timbur headboards?
Yes. Pedestals ordered with a headboard in the same timber and finish are sprayed together, so the colour matches. The matched sets are sold as headboard and pedestal combos.
