The Drakensberg Pedestal is the freestanding bedside unit in our best-selling Drakensberg range. Where our floating pedestals mount to the wall, this one stands on 38mm steel square legs painted to match the cabinet — so it needs no drilling, moves with you, and suits a rented room or a wall you would rather not fix into.
At 600mm high it sits just above a standard mattress top, which is the height most people want for a lamp and a glass of water. The two drawers run on all-metal ball-bearing runners, and the top is solid French Oak or Kiaat, sealed rather than painted, so the grain stays visible and marks can be sanded back rather than touched up.

Also consider: the Drakensberg Floating Pedestal if you would rather wall-mount and keep the floor clear, or the Drakensberg Chest of Drawers and Drakensberg Sideboard to match the rest of the room. Browse all bedside pedestals or the full Drakensberg Collection.
Please note: Solid timbers like French Oak and Kiaat are natural products and may vary in grain, color, and include knots.

It measures 600mm high, 500mm wide and 450mm deep. Because every piece is made to order we can often adjust the size to suit your space — contact us before you order if you need something different.
The price shown is for a single pedestal. Most bedrooms take two, so set the quantity to the number you need before adding to cart.
Solid timber options are French Oak or Kiaat, and the cabinet is finished in Satin White, Satin Light Grey, Satin Dark Grey or Flat Black. Every finish is sprayed in our own workshop, so the colour is consistent across matching pieces ordered together.
It mounts to drywall, brick or concrete, provided the fixings suit that wall type and the wall is sound enough to carry the unit. Mounting brackets and fixings are included. If you are unsure about your wall, tell us what it is made of before you order.
Every piece is handmade to order in our Lanseria workshop, so it is built after you order rather than picked off a shelf. Current lead times are shown on the “Lead Time” tab at the bottom of this page.
Free installation is available in Gauteng when you select delivery at checkout. Outside Gauteng, or if you would rather do it yourself, the unit ships with mounting instructions and the fixings you need.
