Timbur delivers solid wood furniture to Cape Town from its workshop in Lanseria, Gauteng, where every piece is made to order. There is no Cape Town showroom and no installation team in the Western Cape: furniture travels by road freight, freestanding pieces arrive assembled, and wall-hung pieces arrive with brackets, fixings and step-by-step mounting instructions that any handyman can follow. Delivery to Cape Town is quoted at checkout before you pay.
What we make
Floating headboards and headboard and pedestal combos in single to super king, bedside pedestals, floating dressing tables, chests of drawers, wall-mounted and freestanding TV units, sideboards and dining room servers, home office desks and solid oak dining tables. Drawer fronts and tops are solid French Oak or Kiaat; cabinets are sprayed in Satin White, Satin Light Grey, Satin Dark Grey or Flat Black.
How delivery to Cape Town works

- Your piece is built in Lanseria. The current lead time is on the lead times page and on every product page.
- When it is finished we book the freight and send you the tracking details. Wall-hung pieces are packed with their brackets and fixings; freestanding pieces are wrapped and crated where needed.
- Inspect the piece before you sign the delivery note. Note any damage on the note and tell us within 24 hours; transit damage is repaired or replaced under the warranty.

Mounting wall-hung pieces in Cape Town
Floating headboards, pedestals, dressing tables and TV units mount to drywall, brick or concrete with the supplied fixings, provided the wall is sound. Tell us what your wall is made of when you order so the right fixings are packed. The instructions give the bracket positions and heights; most customers have a local handyman fit them in under an hour per piece. If you prefer to see the furniture first, pieces installed in customer homes are in the customer gallery, and the Lanseria workshop is open for visits by appointment.
Coastal air and solid timber
Cape Town's humidity is higher than the Highveld's, and solid timber settles at a slightly higher moisture content there. Our tops and fronts are kiln-dried and sealed, and the construction allows for seasonal movement, so pieces travel well. Kiaat is the most stable of our timbers if your home is close to the sea; the timber guide explains the difference.
